Following Zayn Malik's exit from One Direction, it can be impossible sometimes for the band and their former member not to clash, especially during big events like the recent 2015 Teen Choice Awards held last Sunday, August 16.
At the 17th Teen Choice Awards, One Direction has been awarded with a total of eight surfboards from different categories, of which one of them competed against the now-solo artist, Zayn Malik, according to reports.
This year's Teen Choice Awards is a testament that it was a long, successful year for One Direction. Despite Zayn Malik's decision to depart from the boy band, the 1D fans are still in full support.
The awards claimed by the four-piece band are the "Choice Male Music Group", Choice Song for "Steal My Girl", Choice Summer Tour, Choice Love Song "Night Changes", Choice Party Song, Choice Selfie Taker, Choice Summer Music Group and the Choice Male Hottie which beats out Zayn Malik who was under the same category.
Not only did they beat Malik for one category, the band was also able to break the records for this year's TCA, as they garnered a record of 23 TCA awards, to date.
The boys were not able to attend the awards night, but they sent a short video clip for their acceptance message, where Harry joked about the surfboards, saying "We should probably begin to surf, we can't swim."
Niall Horan and Harry Styles also sent the good news to Twitter and did not miss out thanking their fans for the support they have invested in the band since the beginning of its journey as 'One Direction'.
"Thank You for all your support at the TCAs last night. You're all very nice to us. Really amazing, thank you. All the love," Harry Styles wrote.
Nial Horan on the other hand, wrote "Just woke up and had a text to say that we won 8 awards @TeenChoiceFOX, wowwww! You guys are incredible yet again, thank you so much"
Besides leading the Teen Choice Awards 2015, the band is expecting another success after debuting their latest single "Drag Me Down" which was released in late July. The new single is currently at no. 3 in illboard's Hot 100, next to 'Can't Feel My Face' by The Weekend and 'Cheerleader' by OMI.
