The Trekkies of the world will be pleased to know that William Shatner, the original Captain James T. Kirk from the beloved science fiction franchise, will be hosting a "Star Trek" cruise in just a couple of years - so interested parties should rush to get tickets to sail where no Trekkie has sailed before!
As the 50th anniversary of the original television series approaches, CBS Studios, who controls the property, has announced this "Star Trek" cruise for fans of the longtime franchise, which catapulted the careers of Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, George Takei and most recently stars like Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto in the reboot.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this voyage, which will go between Florida and the Bahamas, is hardly the firs "Star Trek" cruise (there's an ongoing one called "Cruise Trek), but it's definitely the first official one - and this one includes the original U.S.S. Starship Enterprise captain, nothing to frown at indeed!
The Guardian reports that, besides Shatner, the "Star Trek" cruise will include other actors from the franchise such as Marina Sirtis, Robert Picardo and Jonathan Frakes, as they all embark in a voyage starting on January 2017 that'll take them six days to complete.
Tickets to join the celebration will go from $975 to $7,500, as travelers will also get to hear music from the Enterprise Blues Band, a group consisting of different actors that have been part of the franchise.
"When I was told that this was the first authorized Star Trek cruise and part of the 50th anniversary celebration, I just knew that my participation would be something that our fans would enjoy. It should be a lot of fun," Shatner said in a statement, according to Digital Spy.
Fans of the saga can't miss the "totally immersive" "Star Trek" cruise experience!
