Heltah Skeltah's veteran rapper and producer, Sean Price, who's also a member of Random Axe and Boot Camp Clik, died on Saturday, August 8. He was 43.
The public got to know about his demise on social media first, after DJ Premier posted a photo of the deceased rapper on his Instagram page.
"R.I.P Ruck.. Love and Respect to The Duck Down Family!!! #SeanPrice", he captioned the photo.
"It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away early this morning in his Brooklyn apartment, Saturday, August 8th, 2015," a representative from his 'Duck Down Records' family said in a released statement.
The rep went on to say that "The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep. He's survived by his wife and his three children."
It was also mentioned in the statement that Price's family and friends have asked for their personal time to grieve while the investigation runs. However, they added that further details will be given when more information is available.
Being perceived as one of the most influential rappers in the hip-hop industry, his death has everyone in the community mourning on social media.
"My heart hurts. Sean Price is gone. Rest in Paradise legend," hip-hop star 9th Wonder tweeted.
The 'Hard to Choose' rapper-singer, Rapsody, who is a close friend of Price, added, "This the worst. To the legend... and big man with a big heart and big sense of humor... we love you Sean Price. RIP."
Other rappers including the recording artist, Talib Kweli, also did not miss out honoring the man he described as his 'hero' and a 'great friend'.
"Sean Price went from being a childhood hero of mine to a great friend. He was the most competitive MC I've ever met and kept me on my game." Talib wrote on Twitter.
Sean Price was about to release his new mixtape 'Songs in the Key of Price' which will drop on Friday, August 21, Friday.
