A 16 year old boy is currently in the hospital, suffering a third degree burn, after the accident occurred in his workplace. Now, family demands answers from the KFC in North Geelong.
Tyson Greig was working at the fast food chain on Friday night, when the teen splashed over his face and body a boiling hot liquid, The Age reports.
On Sunday night, the Seven Network broadcast the video the condition of Tyson in the hospital. His face is entirely covered in bandages, unable to speak. He has tubes in his nose and mouth.
Kylie Grieg, who is the mother of the boy is demanding an explanation from the company's North Geelong outlet, for it is reportedly unclear what happened during that night. She was just told that her son was splashed with boiling water, but with no clear explanation.
Mrs Grieg told Seven, "I just want answers. What exactly happened to my son? Why is he so burned?"
"I was shocked at how badly burned he had been. I was told it was just boiling water. The burns were on his cheeks, nose, hands, arms, splashes on his belly."
Mrs Grieg further added that her son is an experienced cook and has been working on the chain for about a year. Adding, that her son is a hard working person.
"No one ever deserves to be like this. I would never wish for anybody's child or teenager to experience this."
The spokesperson for KFC said that they are treating this matter seriously and "had strict procedures in place."
"Unfortunately, one of our team members was burned. How it actually happened - we're investigating," the spokesperson explains.
The branch was closed after the accident occurred.
WorkSafe Victoria is currently investigating that incident.
Tyson is still in the hospital reportedly "critical but stable condition."
