Celebrity chef and TV personality Sandra Lee, who went through a double mastectomy operation earlier in May after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, was rushed to the hospital due to complications from her previous mastectomy surgery, according to reports.
The 49-year old Food Network host reportedly began to feel severe pain in the area where her previous operation was performed. Sandra Lee was immediately rushed to the hospital on Tuesday night, August 4, but she remained alert and conscious.
Though the sudden pain that occurred in her body was not immediately identified, a friend close to her called it as 'fluid buildup'.
"She's going to be in a couple of days," her friend said. "She started having pain. She knew something was wrong. It's some sort of fluid build-up and pain. She was just feeling general fatigue and run down."
Another source close to Lee revealed that she is currently under observation and her doctors plan on "monitoring her for a couple of days."
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Sandra Lee's other half whom she has been living with for more than 10 years, immediately rushed to Lee's side and left Billy Joel's concert in Long Island right after hearing the news.
Lee first opened up about her breast cancer earlier in May during her guesting on Good Morning America, which was then followed by her mastectomy surgery a week after she made the announcement.
"I didn't even cry, I was stunned," she said. "You know, that's just how life turns. It turns on a dime."
From there, Lee has been updating her supporters and media followers on Facebook, personal blog and Twitter. However, she has yet to post another update since she has been brought back in the hospital.
Everyone's really on the lookout and hoping she will be posting good news and more positive messages amidst her painful battle with breast cancer.
Besides appearing on TV food programs, Sandra Lee is also a book author and magazine publisher. She is has published 25 books, of which one of them is a best-seller book titled 'Semi-Homemade: Cool Kids Cooking' released in 2006.
