Members of the Grateful Dead Forming New Supergroup With John Mayer

The American rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California, and was known for its unique and eclectic style, Grateful Dead, is forming  a new supergroup.

The American singer-songwriter and producer John Mayer will join Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir to form the band Dead & Company. The band will then perform at New York's Madison Square Garden on October 31. Grateful Dead come together again for the Fare Thee Well tour, the tour includes five shows in Chicago and Santa Clara, California, celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Grateful Dead's drummer, Bill Kreutzmann said in a statement, "Fare Thee Well proved to me that I'm not done exploring new rhythmic territory with Mickey,I'm recommending that everyone puts their helmet on, because we are going to blast our way into some serious drums and space," "And with Mayer riding shotgun with Weir - we're in good company, so to speak."

Grateful Dead band members have decided that they want more, after their  massive success of the five "final" concerts earlier this summer. In a press release on August 14, the tickets for the Halloween show will go on sale , tickets with the highest level will be priced under $100, while $50 tickets will be available in honor of the Dead's 50th anniversary.

John Mayer stated, "I've been listening to the Grateful Dead nonstop. Mark my words: the Grateful Dead are gonna make a comeback, because of how that music cleanses your palate," Mayer also said, "When everything is processed and quantized and gridded out - to hear 'Tennessee Jed' played with that lope is a real palate-cleanser. They take their time, sometimes too much. This free expressive sort of spirit - I listen and I want to find a mix of that openness. I kind of want to go to that show, if it still existed. But I wish that there were tunes that I was more familiar with. I wish that I could be the singer. I wish I could have harmonies. And I wish that I could make it seven minutes instead of 13 minutes. Now I'll get the opportunity to kind of try that."
