Barry Allen will be getting some competition in the second season of 'The Flash!'
According to DC Comics, Warner Bros. and the CW has just announced that Wally West will finally be joining the TV series. The character that would eventually become Kid Flash will be played by Keiyan Lonsdale, who has previously appeared in the hit film 'Insurgent.'
In the DC Comic Book Universe, Wally West is the nephew of Iris West, who eventually becomes Barry Allen's wife. Wally is exposed to the same chemicals as Barry, which gives him the same powers as The Flash. Wally West takes on the persona of Kid Flash and also becomes the third Flash.
Keiynan Lonsdale has appeared in Australian TV shows like 'All Saints' and 'Dance Academy' before getting the role of Uriah in 'Insurgent.'
'The Flash' executive producer Andrew Kreisberg expressed his excitement over having the young actor join the series.
"Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero," Kreisberg said. "We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show."
Keiynan Lonsdale will be a series regular, and there are already several speculations that Kid Flash will be suiting up in Season Two.
'The Flash' stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West and Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, who is expected to start her transformation into Killer Frost in the second season.
Danielle Panabaker has confirmed to Den of Geek that she suggested that the character should wear dark blue lipstick and have longer hair. The actress has also started training for her future fight scenes, but admitted that it may take some time before Killer Frost completes her transformation.
"Obviously, I'm extremely enthusiastic about becoming Killer Frost, and I want it to happen like, yesterday, but it's going to be exciting to see that journey and how it happens," Panabaker said.
'The Flash' Season Two returns to CW on October 8.
