Subway Partners With PayPal For Its Mobile App

Through the Subway mobile app, customers can finally use their PayPal accounts to pay for their sandwiches soon.

"We look forward to introducing PayPal to our future list of payment options," said Director of Subway's Global Payments & Emerging Commerce, Ken Moy in a press release on Wednesday. "This collaboration will make it quicker and simpler for the 169 million active, global PayPal customers to enjoy a great Subway meal at our more than 27,000 locations in the U.S."

Subway restaurants and Paydiant confirmed on Wednesday that the restaurant chain's mobile app and online service, order.subway.com will soon include the PayPal option as another form of payment when ordering their meals in addition to Apple Pay and MasterCard.

"To pay in-store or as part of a mobile order, Subway guests will simply select the "PayPal" option, enabling guests to utilize any smartphone or operating system (Android or iOS) to conduct their transaction", Paydiant cofounder Chris Gardner announced.

This major deal has been a priority for Subway for years since the launch of its mobile app in California in 2012 and New York in 2014.

"Our customers are at the center of everything we do, and we know mobile is playing a key role in all of their lives," said Subway restaurant manager in Los Angeles, Valencia Johnson. "The new Subway app makes ordering on-the-go that much easier."

"As part of our continued commitment to improve, we knew that offering online and mobile tools to our busy customers was critical to ensuring they cannot only eat fresh; but fast," said Subway's Chief Information Officer Carman Wenkoff. "We are excited to launch our new ordering platforms and will continue to look for new ways to improve the Subway experience."

This is good news for Subway lovers including Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who were snapped ordering lunch at the restaurant with their kids just last month.
