The upcoming fifth installment in the Bourne franchise of Paul Greengrass, is sure to fire up anticipation from viewers as the sequel promises a magnificent cast. Matt Damon will reprise his role as Jason Bourne. a CIA assassin suffering from extreme memory loss who must figure out who he is. the American actor, screenwriter and producer Damon, will be joined by Julia Stiles and Alicia Vikander. The Danish American actor, poet, musician, photographer and painter Viggo Mortensen, was recently rumored to be in talks for a role as well.
The most recent news from the action thriller, spy film, is the involvement of the legendary actor and career curmudgeon Tommy Lee Jones, who is confirmed to join the cast of the Bourne sequel.
As Tommy Lee Jones , who won Best Supporting Actor for his performance as U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard in the 1993 thriller film The Fugitive, joined the cast of the new, untitled Bourne project by Paul Greengrass (the English film director, screenwriter and former journalist). Tommy Lee Jones will portray a high-ranking CIA officer which gives Tommy Lee Jones plenty of opportunities to scowl and glare at Matt Damon as Jason Bourne.
Edward Norton and Brian Cox have also been cast in the previous Bourne films with similar roles as Jones.
Frank Marshall alongside Jeffrey Weiner will produce the new Bourne movie for Captivate Entertainment. As Christopher Rouse and Henry Morrison will serve as executive producers in the sequel, Paul Greengrass, Matt Damon, Greg Goodman and Ben Smith will also produce the upcoming Bourne film.
The three Bourne movies of Matt Damon, the first of which was released in 2002 -earned nearly $1 billion worldwide at the box office. In the 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum, Matt Damon last played the iconic role as Jason Bourne. And in 2012's Tony Gilroy-directed The Bourne Legacy, Jeremy Renner stepped into the franchise.
The new Bourne's production is expected to begin later this summer, and the Bourne film is slated on July 29, 2016.
