The Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy 3 have been in the creative minds of the production team and may actually be executed in making the film. To make the Hellboy 3 possible, Guillermo del Toro will also handle the film, will depend on the success of his upcoming Pacific Rim 2 in oreder to finance the production of Hellboy.
Director del Toro at last weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, said that if his fighting giant monsters in the Pacific Rim sequel will be a blockbuster, that would be the green light for the third Hellboy.
Director Guillermo del Toro stated, "The hard fact is that ('Hellboy 3′)'s going to need about $120 million and there's nobody knocking down our doors to give it to us... it's a little beyond Kickstarter. Del Toro also said, "It would be great to complete the trilogy. But in a way I don't see the world - the industry - supporting that idea."
On 2013's Pacific Rim, with a production budget of $190 million gained over over $411 million worldwide, and Warner Bros came to a plan for a follow-up sequel. The 75% profit margin of the total box office came outside the U.S.A., but a larger potential audience is expected in the upcoming Pacific Rim franchise. Hence the possibility of Hellboy 3 will be made.
Guillermo del Toro stated, "Warners liked the script, they were very enthusiastic and wanted to green-light it but they wanted it to coincide with the shoot of Pacific Rim 2.I was put in a very difficult place facing a difficult choice, and I chose to do 'Pacific Rim 2.' "
The lucrative Pacific Rim 2 can kickstart Hellboy 3, but del Toro's busy schedule is still a factor of when production of the fim will begin. The director even ceased to participate in potential directorial projects like Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' and Warner Bros/DC's 'Justice League Dark,' due to conflicting schedules with Pacific Rim 2.
Pacific Rim 2 is slated to hit theaters on August 2017.
