Ariana Grande Fans start Instagramming 'Donut Lick' pics to Show their Support

You've got to give it to Ariana Grande's fanbase, they sure now how to get behind their girl. Devoted 'Arianators' have begun posting pictures of themselves licking Donut emojis on the photo sharing platform Instagram in support of the pop star.

Last week, Grande was caught by security cameras licking a tray of baked goods at Los Angeles Donut spot Wolfee Donuts. Grande, who was with her new beau backup dancer Ricky Alvarez, had not paid for the pastries. She then proceeded to go on a rant saying that "she hated America."

The pop starlet quickly issued an apology after the footage went viral on the internet. Grande, in her statement released via Buzzfeed, said:

"I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American ... What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words."

Grande tried to sweep the licking incident under the rug, going on a spiel about her fight against obesity in America:

"The fact that the United States has the highest child obesity rate in the world frustrates me. We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies. We need to demand more from our food industry."

Her fanbase has now used the donut incident as a social media campaign in defence of their idol, who they believe has been unfairly treated by the media for her actions. The hashtag "#LickDonutsWithAri" seems to be the official tagline for the campaign. Check out some of the weird snaps below:
