Tilda Swinton is getting ready to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 'All Lovers Left Behind' actress has just spoken to Screen Crush about her role in the upcoming Marvel film 'Doctor Strange.' Swinton was initially reported to be in talks to play a gender-swapped Ancient One in the movie, and she finally confirmed that a deal has been made.
"It's done," she said. "We're so far in talks that we're not talking any more. It's done. The conversation has been had."
Swinton also spoke about what drew her to the project.
"Well, there's no particular interest in getting into something bigger, or even smaller, I just really liked the premise of this and the idea of playing this character," she admitted. "I'm a Marvel fan and I think this particular world that 'Doctor Strange' goes into is really, really, really exciting."
The actress, who played Jadis the Witch in the 'Chronicles of Narnia' film series, said she was drawn to the role from a creative level.
"I'm really interested as both an actor and a fan to see what's done in this particular world," Swinton said. "It's all about creativity. It's not about everything exploding at the end. It's about something very different. The idea of playing The Ancient One is really just too tickling. I can't say no to that!"
Tilda Swinton also confirmed that she was looking forward to working on other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"It's like a family thing. Who knows where one might pop up?" she said. "I don't know where they'll use me and I don't know that they know, necessarily, even though they seem to know what they're doing for the next decade."
'Doctor Strange' will also star Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who will portray another Ancient One protégé Baron Mordo. The film is scheduled for release on November 4, 2016.
