Things aren't looking up for Cobie Smulders. According to US Weekly, the star of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' reportedly broke her leg and had to bow out of the HBO drama film 'Confirmation,' which is just about to start shooting.
The amazing thing was, Smulders didn't even know she had a leg injury.
"She said her leg started hurting so she had it checked out," a source informed US Weekly. "And that she must've done something to it without realizing sometime earlier."
Unfortunately, a visit to the doctor had revealed that the leg was in fact broken, and the injury was serious enough for Smulders to require some time off.
'Confirmation' will also feature 'Scandal' star Kerry Washington as well as 'American Horror Story' actress Grace Gummer. The film will be about Anita Hill (Washington), who filed sexual harassment allegations against Supreme Court candidate Clarence Thomas (Wendell Pierce) in the 90's.
Smulders had been confirmed to play lawyer Harriet Grant. However, the former sitcom star will now be replaced by another TV actress. Deadline has just reported that 'Friends with Better Lives' star Zoe Lister-Jones will play the Democratic lawyer.
Lister-Jones was casted only one day after Smulders backed out from 'Confirmation.'
Smulders has previously appeared in the series 'Veritas: The Quest' and 'The L Word.' She is best known for playing Robin Scherbatsky in the TV comedy 'How I Met your Mother.'
Smulders also portrayed Agent Maria Hill in the two 'Avengers' movies as well as the spin-off series 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'
Lister-Jones' TV credits include 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,' 'The Good Wife,' 'Whitney' and 'New Girl.' She has appeared in films like 'Breaking Upwards,' 'State of Play,' 'The Other Guys' and the Angelina Jolie action movie 'Salt.'
'Confirmation' is currently filming and will air on HBO in 2016.
