‘Sherlock’ Special 2015: This Is How Benedict Cumberbatch And Martin Freeman Look In Victorian BBC Special! [PHOTO]

Fans of the Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat rendition of sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic stories get a hard time due to the fact that each season only comes out every other year, but now that the "Sherlock" special 2015 is confirmed, things are looking brighter!

The BBC series' showrunners have long confirmed that the "Sherlock" special 2015 will be more true to its original material and completely unrelated to the series' canon, and there had already been a few shooting photos with stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman looking dandy alongside co-star Amanda Abbington in 19th century attire.

According to The Verge, BBC has just launched the first official photo for the "Sherlock" special 2015, set for release later this year, where Cumberbatch's Sherlok and Freeman's Watson both sport three-piece suits as well as slicked-down hair, a fairly interesting change to their usual contemporary looks.

BBC reports that, while there's no official release date for the "Sherlock" special 2015, rumor has it that in keeping with other shows' tradition (such as "Doctor Who"), the one-off episode will be released near Christmastime.

According to Time Magazine, showrunner Moffat has already said that the "Sherlock" special 2015 will be set in Victorian times, and only the three principal cast members have been confirmed at this point, namely Cumberbatch, Freeman and Abbington, and it's still unknown whether other favorites like Andrew Scott (Jim Moriarty) or Lara Pulver (Irene Adler) will be making appearances.

"Sherlock," a BBC show broadcast on PBS in the United States, is a modern retell of sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic stories about private detective genius Sherlock Holmes and sidekick Dr. John Watson; the show's last season aired in January 2013 in the United Kingdom, but its two stars are currently two of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood, and shooting has to fit their schedules.

In any case, looks like there'll be more news about the "Sherlock" special 2015 soon!
