Former Johns Hopkins Chief of Psychiatry Destroys ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner

John Hopkins' former chief psychiatrist, Dr. Paul R. McHugh recently declared that being transgender isactually a mental disorder. CNSnews.com got a hold of the distinguished doctor and professor in his field and his thoughts about the coming out as a trans woman by Bruce Jenner who now wants to be recognized as "Caitlyn" Jenner.

He even said that those people who are encouraging this phenomenon and even for change the sexual orientation of a person are not helping and even promoting this form of mental illness. This whole case needs treatment as per McHugh's statement.

As a distinguished profession in John Hopkins Hospital, he made it known via the Wall Street Journal that going through a surgery for those people who want to alter their gender won't solve their issues. Instead, it would only lead to more problems and confusion in the end. There are even studies showing that surgery done to transgenders only lead to suicide and the rate is 20 times higher than those who are not transgenders.

McHugh said that this era along with Hollywood's influence and the media has definitely promoted transgenderism making it appear as normal. If anyone thinks they are doing a favor to the society by calling it awareness, then they are actually wrong. McHugh clearly stated,  "policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention."

To understand why it is considered as a mental disorder, McHugh sighted an example like those people who are suffering from anorexia who have their perception different from the physical reality. When they look at the mirror, they see someone who still needs to go on a diet and be thin when the reality is they are already thin. It is the same thing with transgenderism where the idea of that they are trapped in a different gender just also means their way of thinking doesn't go with physical reality.
