Donna Karan Resigns As Chief Designer From Her Own Brand

Donna Karan International brand is not going to be the same without its founder Donna Koran herself, who decided to step down on Tuesday, June 30 as the Chief Designer of the company.

The brand is operated by LVMH bearing her full name according to The Independent. Replacements on her position have not yet been reported although collections and shows have been suspended. And now that the New York Fashion Week is coming, the questions on who will fill in for her position just arise. According to fashion critics and editorials, the designer's collections moving on the ramp had already stopped to be must-sees during fashion shows.

The New York Times considered Karan's movie as a major shift in the industry of American fashion. Karan who is 66 years old has defined America's fashion for working women and her announcement of leaving her position is going to create a huge change for the brand. But fans of the designer don't need to worry about her career and the future of the brand since still will be the company's adviser. She will just spend more time to her another clothing line called the Urban Zen.

Her new line's focus is on wellness and artisanal products, as well as her foundation linked to it. Her brand was actually bought by LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), a French company back in 2001. The company made it clear that they have no plans as of the moment of thinking who will take Karan's position. And for those asking what about the New York Fashion Week this coming September, that one is currently suspended.

CNN also covered the news of Donna Karan stepping down from her position and they reported that it was her personal decision. She has been designing in the industry since 1985.
