The Fox 'Batman' prequel series 'Gotham' ended with the death of Fish Mooney (played by Jada Pinkett Smith) and the retirement of Carmine Falcone (John Dorman). It appears that the city is safe for the time being.

The peace probably will not last that long, since Fox has just announced that there will be a new series regular and he's not a good guy.

Deadline has just reported that 'True Detective' star James Frain has signed on to Gotham' Season Two. Frain will play Theo Galavan, who will be joined by his sister Tabitha, who has yet to be cast.

Theo Galavan is said to be a billionaire industrialist who moves to Gotham and is seen as the city's savior. He is described as "sexy, heroic, and lovingly devoted to his sister Tabitha."

Yet behind Theo Galavan's seemingly good intentions lies a darker mission. He and his sister actually have a centuries-old vendetta and intend to create new villains. Tabitha will later become the DC Comics villain Tigress.

Frain is an English actor who is best known for his work in several TV shows. He has played Thomas Cromwell in 'The Tudors,' and starred as the vampire Franklin Mott in 'True Blood.' Frain also appeared as Eric Renard in the supernatural TV series 'Grimm.'

The actor has also starred in movies like 'Water for Elephants' and 'Tron: Legacy.' Frain's most recent works include recurring roles in the TV shows 'Orphan Black' and 'True Detective.'

'Gotham' stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, a young detective who is assigned to investigate the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. Gordon ends up getting involved with gangster families and eventually forms a friendship with the Wayne orphan Bruce (David Mazouz).

The series also stars Donal Logue, Robin Lord Taylor, Camren Bicondova, Cory Michael Smith and Morena Baccarin.
