The rumor that Channing Tatum might appear as Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse has been verified, as Channing Tatum confirmed, that he will definitely NOT be a part of Bryan Singer's upcoming sequel.
On Wednesday, Channing Tatum stated during an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, the Magic Mike actor directly answered "No ma'am, or sir. I definitely will not be in the Bryan Singer's follow-up to X-Men: Days of Future Past."
For the Apocalypse that took place in the 1980s, Gambit was not a part of the story yet and it will be a misrepresentation if the character Gambit/Channing Tatum is injected in the film.
Channing Tatum on the other hand will definitely take on the Gambit solo film, and will be released on October 7, 2016.
As Tatum stated his support to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' director Rupert Wyatt, where recently the director signed on to steer the Gambit standalone film,"We finally found someone (Rupert Wyatt) that I really do believe wants to make the movie," Tatum also said: "I just really think because Gambit is not the most popular or the biggest hero, I think there's a really unique opportunity. Marvel's done a lot of great movies that have made a ridiculous amount of money, and it's always good to figure how to change the form."
Tatum was very optimistic how potential the Gambit movie will be. Tatum said: "And I just really think because Gambit is not the most popular or the biggest hero, I think there's a really unique opportunity. Marvel's done a lot of great movies that have made a ridiculous amount of money, and it's always good to figure how to change the form."
The production behind the movie is "going to shift things a little bit" for the Gambit movie. But Tatum hinted the movie Gambit will be about a the mutant who has superhuman abilities and got a mission "saving the world."
