It seemed like the internet stood still and immediately applauded when former 'Walking Dead' star Jon Bernthal was cast as Frank Castle in the upcoming second season of 'Daredevil.'
Netizens were quick to point out that Bernthal, who played Shane Walsh in the first and second season of the AMC hit show, would make the perfect Punisher to lay down the law in Hell's Kitchen.
The actor has already tweeted about getting the role, where he posed with his dog and a copy of The Punisher comic book. "Thanks for the love yall. Let's get it. Honored," Bernthal wrote.

The 'Wolf of Wall Street' actor recently spoke to ABC News, where he finally spoke about getting the role of a lifetime. "Oh man, it's just a huge honor to play the part and that's all I can say about that," Bernthal said. "I'm very thrilled and we haven't started yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it."
The father of three also talked about preventing discrimination against pit bulls. "I'm a pit bull owner myself," Bernthal admitted. "I've seen the prejudice these dogs have been facing for years. I care a lot about the breed and I believe it's very misunderstood.
Bernthal is promoting the campaign The Majority Project, which aims to get rid of discrimination against pit bulls and their owners.
"I'll do what I can to make my dogs ambassadors of the breed and I'll do what I can to fight against it," he said.

The Marvel TV series 'Daredevil' also stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Rosario Dawson. The second season will be released on Netflix in 2016.
Bernthal is currently working on the action film 'The Accountant' with Ben Affleck, who was the first actor to play Matt Murdoch in the movie of the same name.
