Curry, Iguodala Lead the Way in Game 6 as Warriors beat Cavaliers to Clinch NBA Title

The Golden State Warriors were the class of the NBA during the regular season and now they finally have the trophy to back it up. Riding MVP worthy performances from star guard Stephen Curry and veteran forward Andre Iguodala, The Dubs dispatched the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-97 in game 6 to secure their first NBA title since 1975.

The championship was especially sweet for Iguodala. The former all-star and all NBA defensive selection took home the Bill Russell Award as the series' most valuable player.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr went with a small ball lineup beginning in Game 4, inserting Iguodala into the opening rotation in place of the struggling Andrew Bogut and shifting Draymond Green into the Center position. Iguodala embraced the added responsibility with some of the best basketball of his career, putting up career best performances in the series final three games. He finished the Finals with averages of: 16.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, and 4 apg.

For Stephen Curry, the championship is the cherry on top of a storybook season. The reigning MVP cemented his place among the upper echelon of the NBA's current crop of superstars and his prolific shooting display during the playoffs will go down in the record books. Curry set the record for three pointers made in a single postseason, shattering Reggie Miller's previous mark of 58.

As for the Cleveland Cavaliers and their fanbase, it will no doubt be a long and painful offseason thinking about what might have been. Without all-star guard Kyrie Irving and big time trade acquisition Kevin Love, the injury ravaged Cavs roster simply ran out of answers against the deeper and healthier Warriors. Lebron James' unreal effort in this series will go down as one of the game's greatest individual performances.
