There is no question that The Flash is one of the most well-known DC characters. The speedy superhero is known for his witty one-liners and has earned the honor of starring in his own live-action TV series. By 2018, a standalone film about The Flash will also be released.

Director Phil Lord had revealed several details about the upcoming standalone DC film, including which Flash will be the star of the movie.

In an interview with The Hippojuice Podcast, Lord confirmed he was working on 'The Flash' film, and that it will be different from the TV series.

"We're trying to break a story," the director said. "It's interesting, because there's a really popular TV show out there, and we're trying to carve out space for the movie that's apart from that, but ... I think we're doing alright."

The '22 Jump Street' director was also asked if his Flash will be Barry Allen or Wally West.

"I believe it's going to be Barry Allen," the director said.

Barry Allen also happens to be the same Flash that appears in the TV series, where the speedster is played by Grant Gustin. In the film, the character will be played by 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' star Ezra Miller.

The casting of Miller did not sit well with Stephen Amell. The actor, who plays Oliver Queen in the other DC show 'Arrow,' believes Gustin should play The Flash in the feature length movie.

"I feel like it should be Grant doing the movie," Amell told the Wall Street Journal.

The actor did point out that he wasn't against Miller playing the character.

"The important thing to remember is just because Grant Gustin plays the part of Barry Allen doesn't mean Ezra Miller can't also play Barry Allen," Amell said. "There can be different interpretations of the character."

'The Flash' movie is scheduled for release in 2018.
