Jack Huston No Longer Doing The Crow Remake

The upcoming reboot of the 1994 cult classic 'The Crow' simply cannot catch a break.

Only a few weeks after Andrea Riseborough has been reported to join the film, actor Jack Huston has decided to step away from the project.

Director Corin Hardy recently spoke to Variety with the news.

"Jack Huston is unfortunately unavailable to continue with us on 'The Crow,'" Hardy said in a statement. "'The Crow' is an amazing project, and I am grateful that we have the time and patience to get it right. We look forward to unveiling our new lead and starting to film over the next several weeks."

Relativity Media is on the hunt once again for a new Erik Draven. The studio is reportedly keeping an eye on 'Mad Max: Fury Road' star Nicholas Hoult as well as BAFTA Rising Star Awardee Jack O'Connell.

This is not the first time the reboot has lost a potentially amazing leading man. There have been several actors eyed for the role of the vengeful musician, including Tom Hiddleston, Mark Wahlberg and Alexander Skarsgaard.

Before Huston signed on, 'Dracula Untold' star Luke Evans had reportedly accepted the role before bowing out for another movie.

The project has also been passed around between several directors. It was previously rumored that 'House of 1,000 Corpses' director Rob Zombie would work on the remake, however the idea was simply not realized.

Big names like Stephen Norrington, Edward R. Pressman, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Francisco Javier Gutiérrez have been attached to the project before Hardy signed on.

The producers and studio continue to be optimistic about 'The Crow' remake. Forest Whitaker is currently being courted for a major role in the film.

'The Crow' was based on Tim O'Barr's comic book of the same name. The film starred the late Brandon Lee, who passed away while filming the movie.
