BioWare finally presented a glimpse of the next Mass Effect installment called Andromeda, which will be released during 'Holiday 2016'. The highly-awaited game was first revealed at the company's E3 press conference.
The game developer released a cinematic trailer of the game. Watch it below.
The new version appears to be in the similar sci-fi and action format that players of the original trilogy already know, but the trailer presents a new hero different from Commander Shepard. The hero is seen wearing an N7 armor in a desert planet, flying across rocky mountains using a jetpack.
The game is a new adventure a bit different from the previous trilogy. Players can choose between a male of female character, who will explore the all-new galaxy Andromeda with a team of adventurers who will work and fight alongside each other.
BioWare said that when they finished the original Mass Effect trilogy, the planning and designing of Mass Effect: Andromeda was already ongoing.
"We knew we wanted to start with a foundation composed of the best parts of any Mass Effect game: exciting new worlds to discover, great characters, and intense action. At the same time, we clearly wanted to expand the definition of what you should expect from a Mass Effect game," Bioware stated.
The trailer was built on Frosbite, the game's engine, which represents the visual target for the final game. The company has been excited on the success of bringing Mass Effect to Frosbite and they are focusing on PC and current gen consoles.
The last game of the series came out three years ago, in 2012. During the time, the Mass Effect production was passed to the younger Montreal branch, while the original location is advancing with a new property. Casey Hudson, former Mass Effect director, had moved on.
