A government worker union had said on Thursday, that hackers have stolen information on every federal employee. The cyber heist is clamied to be more damaging than the Obama administration dare confess.
The director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), received a letter from J. David Cox - the national president of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and it was stated,
"Based on the sketchy information OPM has provided, we believe that the Central Personnel Data File was the targeted database, and that the hackers are now in possession of all personnel data for every federal employee, every federal retiree, and up to one million former federal employees."
Michael Chertoff, former Secretary of Homeland Security along with otherw U.S. lawmakers and cybersecurity experts, have surmounted their accusations on the Chinese government who allegedly provided the funds for the hackers. Beijing however refuses to admit the allegations.
Former chairman of the House intelligence committee Mike Rogers stated, Chinese intelligence agencies last week, spent some time assembling a database of information about Americans. That they intend to use the personal details for blackmails. Chinese intelligence agencies also made bogus email accounts to infiltrate spyware on the networks of government agencies.
An intelligence committee member - Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine., also said that China was behind the breach: "yet another indication of a foreign power probing successfully and focusing on what appears to be data that would identify people with security clearances."
The union (American Federation of Government Employees) know for sure that the hackers stole personal information like military records and veterans' status information, address, birth date, job and pay history, health insurance, life insurance, and pension information; and age, gender and race data.
A sympathy statement from William Dougan, president of the National Federation of Federal Employees, speaking in behalf of more than 110,000 employees: "They cannot even get through to a live human to answer their questions," "Federal employees deserve better than this."
