Marsupials Procreate Until They Die

There is one animal that is becoming famous today for their ability to mate until they die and it's none other than the marsupials. Researchers in Australia have found out about these creatures' ability to procreate until they can no longer breathe.

The Washington Post reported that the Dusky Antechinus who are categorized as marsupials have the form and physical structure that of a mouse. Scientists describe their mating style as "suicidal reproduction." This recent study of this newly discovered species and their unique way of mating was published last week in Memoirs of the Queensland Museum-Nature. If you want to catch a glimpse of these mouse-like creatures, you would have to visit the southeastern region of Australia. They used to be classified as sub-species, but they are now recognized as distinct species.

Moreover, these creatures are known for doing "speed-mating," according to Professor Andrew Baker of Queensland, leader of the research. USA Today documented what he said that these particular marsupials could get it on for 14 hours in day with a lot of female species. The testosterone level of the males is so intense that they look forward to mate with as many female marsupials as possible. As their testosterone increases, their immune system starts to shut down that they will eventually die before they even see their offspring.

They may sound energetic and healthy for being active in the reproduction department, but Huffington Post said that these creatures are bound to face some danger aside from the fact that they have some ridiculous amount of libido going on. Climate change and loss of place to live are among the major reasons why they could be endangered. Scientists are doing their best to have these animals listed as endangered species to be taken care of the federal government of Australia.
