‘She’s Not Me’ Official Music Video Released, Jenny Lewis Parodies Her Child Star Past

Indie Rock goddess Jenny Lewis recently released a hilarious music video of her 2014 breakout song "She's Not Me". Like a blast from the past, singer revisits childhood acting career and pokes fun at younger self in the music video.

Lewis co-produced "She's Not Me" with Ryan Adams in Pax-Am Studio. Ryan Adams played the guitar, Lewis on vocals while Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes was on drums.

The trio formed a band for the recording of the single. "She's Not Me" which was completed in just two takes which made the Indie Rock singer give high praises to Ryan.

Not known to many, the old Rilo Kiley singer was once a child star before gaining success in the Indie Rock music industry. In the recently released "She's Not Me" music video, Lewis spoofs her childhood scenes from The Golden Girls, Troop Beverly Hills, The Wizard, and Pleasantville.

The Child actress turned singer Lewis undoubtedly made the music video hilarious. Jenny Lewis' satire imitations of childhood acting looked very funny. Her team up with other stars even made it quirkier. "She's Not Me" music video includes co-actress turned singer Feist and comedians Fred Armisen, Zosia Mamet, Vanessa Bayer, and Leo Fitzpatrick - all great friends of Lewis.

Jenny Lewis self-directed the video for the single. In a Buzzfeed email, the singer had this to say: "The video is about former identities and incarnations of one's self. It's a super meta retrospective on my career."

Verge, however, finds it hard to believe that "Lewis is unaware" of the secret to making music videos break the internet. It wrote, "her music exists in the age of the celebrity cameo and #throwbacks, and that her view counter lives in that world, too." Verge even gave perfect examples of trending music videos for Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" and Arcade Fire's "We Exist". Both music videos showed parodies and cameos which made them big hits.

The Voyager, of which "She's Not Me" is an installation, was released by Lewis last July. Rolling Stone ranked it Number 17 for 2014's 50 Best Albums.
