Anthony Bourdain Invest In A Media Company

You can definitely describe Anthony Bourdain as a chef, author, TV host and bon vivant. Now another title is added in his career: a media investor.

Bourdain has become an investing partner of Roads and Kingdoms- the website that covers food, travel, culture and politics and  was just recently voted the Gold Winner for Best Travel Journalism Site by the Society of American Travel Writers.

The site was founded by former Time Magazine foreign correspondent Nathan Thornburgh and Matt Goulding, co-author of the best-selling food series of "Eat This, Not That!"

"I became aware of the site pretty early on and was blown away by what I saw" Bourdain said during his telephone interview with Arts & Life.

The company confirmed that Bourdain will become its editor-at-large and chief investor.

The capitalist said in The Wall Street Journal, "What has made everything work in my career has been collaborating with people whose work I respect, and I see these guys as my soul brothers".

"I am getting in as deeply and fully as I possibly can - it is not a token amount" Bourdain added, refusing to reveal how much his investment in the digital media world.

For now, the company has 10 staff in Brooklyn, N.Y. The site is currently working with more than hundreds of freelancers around the world. And the company plans to expand in the near future.

And through their partnership with Bourdain, the site will issue a series of food and travel books where he has an imprint at HarperCollins. The first book, titled Rice, Noodle, Fish: Deep Travels Through Japan's Food Culture, is scheduled to go on sale this October.

Meanwhile, as editor at large, he will head up a series called "Dispatched" which will show longform articles and the first main course is about a Peruvian school for aspiring shamans.
