Sawyer Sweeten, 19, one of the stars of "Everybody Loves Raymond," who played Geoffrey Barone passed away in an apparent suicide on Thursday. The shocking news about Sawyer Sweeten death was confirmed by her sister, Madilyn on her Facebook Thursday evening.
As Madilyn began the sad announcement of Sawyer Sweeten death, she began her message by encouraging everyone to reach out to the ones you love. She added let your loved ones have no doubt of what they mean to you.
"This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred," she continued in a statement. "We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life. He was weeks away from his 20th birthday. At this sensitive time, our family request privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love."
Sawyer Sweeten was said to have taken his own life while visiting his family in Texas. He shot himself in a porch, according to a Yahoo report.
Sawyer Sweeten co-star in the sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond," Ray Romano, 57, spoke of his grief for the loss of a young boy, whom for him is "wonderful and sweet kid to be around."
Patricia Heaton, another cast in "Everybody Loves Raymond," who starred as on-screen mother of Sawyer Sweeten wrote on her Twitter, "Sawyer Sweeten was a funny and exceptionally bright young man. He is gone from us far too soon."
It is unclear what led to Sawyer Sweeten death. However, there were speculations that it might have something to do with the young actor's slow down career after his stint with "Everybody Loves Raymond."
Sawyer Sweeten is one of the many actors, who committed suicide at young age.
Sawyer Sweeten followed the same fate of Christopher Pettiet, (died at age 24) due to accidental overdose, Dana Plato (died at age 34) due to painkiller addiction, Corey Haim (died at 38) and Brittany Murphy (died at 32) due to drug addiction.
According to Centers for Disease Control, suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in 2010. Records show that there is an average of 105 deaths due to suicide in the United States where male are more apparent to have tendencies for committing suicide 4x than women.
Firearms or self-inflicted gunshot is the most common cause of suicide death in men while women tend to take their own lives by poisoning.
On Sawyer Sweeten death, his manager Dino May expressed his shock over his talent's suicide. May stated that Sawyer Sweeten is a good child, "no depression, no nothing. He was a good kid. Teenage stuff, but no depression, no signs or anything."
Sawyer Sweeten began his acting career at the early age of 16 months old. He played as the twin brother of his real-life twin brother, Sullivan, while his older sister Madilyn played as Ally. The show aired from 1996 to 2005 where Sawyer Sweeten played for 139 episodes according to Heavy.
Sawyer Sweeten was born on May 12, 1995 in Brownwood, Texas to his father, Timothy Sweeten and mother, Elizabeth Millsap. Sawyer Sweeten came from a family of nine children including his siblings, Claudia, Maysa, Emma, Guiliana, Elliette and Jaymeson Sweeten.
