Elio Canestri Killed: [+DETAILS] Teen Surfing Champion Dead After Fatal Shark Attack!

Elio Canestri killed in Sunday's shark attack at the Indian Ocean off the Coast of Reunion Island is a 13-year-old promising surfer. He was pronounced dead after the fatal shark attack due to the sustained wounds he had.

Elio Canestri, killed by shark was one of the 17 victims attacked off the coast. He was on board while bodyboarding when shark grabbed his midsection and tossed him into the waters. A representative for the French territory's rescue services reported that he was surfing with seven of his friends when it happened.

"A boat was launched very quickly, and the victim was dragged out of the sea, but he died from his wounds," an official said. "Those who witnessed the attack, including other children, are being treated for trauma."  It was reported that Canestri body flew off the waters and the shark segregated his limbs.

Today, as INQUISITR reported, thousands of friends and mourners joined together in offering prayers and tributes to Elio Canestri, killed by shark in Les Aigrettes beach. Due to the incident, the local officials ordered strict prohibition of surfing on non-surfing areas that are shark infested.

Elio Canestri, killed by shark was surfing 50ft off the sea coast. It is the area that is banned by local officials due to high risk of sharks. 

When he was dragged by the large sea creature into the sea, a boat was quickly launched to rescue him, but it was too late, the Daily Mail reported. He sustained multiple injuries that led to his death.

It has not yet been identified which kind of shark attacked the young professional surfer, Elio Canestri, killed in the incident.

There had been 16 victims of shark attacks from the recent four years, seven died. It is also noted that Great white sharks are known to be roaming around the sea border where the young surfer was killed.

Professional surfer Jeremy Flores who felt terribly affected with Canestri loss expressed his words of grief on his Instagram. He described Elio Canestri, killed in the incident, "One of our best up and coming surfers. Words can't describe how sad and angry I am. So young !!! Heart breaking News . RIP."

A Facebook page was also set up for Elio Canestri, killed in the fatal shark attack. Since the page was made, there had been over 7,500 likes to the page.
