World Health Day 2015: World Health Organization Focuses On Food Safety [VIDEO]

The world hosts a great number of silly holidays related to the way people eat their foods and what is it they consume but that doesn't mean there aren't serious ones out there that are related to the way people eat throughout the planet - most famously, there's the World Health Day 2015.

Earlier this year, Food World News reported the World Nutella Day and the American holiday National Frozen Yogurt Day among others, but now it's time to get into serious business as the World Health Organization (WHO) announces its World Health Day 2015 theme, of great concern for everybody on Earth: food safety.

While the World Health Day 2015 is primarily focused on food health, the long-standing holiday (created in the late 40s and first celebrated in 1950), over the years it has covered other topics of concern for the health of millions across the globe, like urbanization and health and blood pressure.

Food Safety News reports that the organization chose the theme for the World Health Day 2015 to recognize the role of every person in the course of production of nourishment products, as this way it'd be possible to strengthen collaboration and coordination around these areas to prevent diseases that could be borne from foods.

The World Health Day 2015 theme is still very much current, as lately there has been a wave of issues regarding recalled foods in the United States, most notably from famous Kraft Mac and Cheese due to pieces of metal having been found in some badges; another recent issue came from an outbreak of Listeriosis started by contaminated Blue Bell Creameries ice cream products.

As WHO announced the theme for this year's international day of health, Forbes' online version posted an article on how to keep food safe, even linking the different considerations the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) suggests for this purpose.

Happy World Health Day 2015, and always keep an eye on what you and your loved ones eat!
