13-year-old son, getaway driver- At 13, a boy from Albuquerque did not enjoy the ride he made as he drive away their truck on Saturday night. A man who opened fire after a beer run used his 13-year-old son, getaway driver.
Terrified for his life, and what could have gone wrong, the 13-year-old son, getaway driver told officers that he feared for his life as he was instructed by his father to drive away from the parking lot.
The shootout started around 11 p.m. when Sergio Barrientos-Hinojos, 33, told his son to drive for him in a nearby gas station to purchase more alcoholic drinks. The teenager told police officers that his father, who was drunk obliged him to drive.
However, Barrientos-Hinojos had heated argument with another customer also at the gas station and started open firing. The drunken father used his 13-year-old son, getaway driver as he fired guns up in the air, the Guardian reported.
The Albuquerque police officers at a nearby DWI checkpoint heard the shooting and responded immediately to the area. A surveillance video camera showed the officers chasing the vehicle being driven by the 13-year-old son, getaway driver until they cornered the truck.
According to INQUISITR, the teenager was looking so terrified. However, the father who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol didn't surrender peacefully to the officers. He instead shouted abusive languages such as "f*** the police" and uttered racial slurs.
Noone was hurt on the shootout. However, it may be the worst day for Barrientos-Hinojos who faces rounds of charges for the incident.
Barrientos-Hinojos is accused of child abuse and shooting from a vehicle. He is also charged of tampering with evidence as he tried to misplace the gun he used in the firing.
The 13-year-old son, getaway driver faces no charges and is now reunited with his mother. However, his father will be staying in jail if he is not able to settle the bond of $42,500.
