After the 2015 release of the Lynsey Addario autobiography "It's What I Do," where she speaks out about her work as a war photojournalist, stars and studios have been fighting for the rights to adapt it to the big screen - and now it turns out that it'll be Jennifer Lawrence and Steven Spielberg teaming up in the film version.
Before Jennifer Lawrence and Steven Spielberg's involvement in the film was finally confirmed, people like "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky and superstars George Clooney and Reese Witherspoon had been attached to the bidding war for the rights to adapt the original material.
Deadline reports that, before Jennifer Lawrence and Steven Spielberg were attached, others trying to get the rights were also "The Wolf of Wall Street" star Margot Robbie and The Weinstein Company, besides those previously mentioned.
As Yahoo! News reports, the original book, entitled "It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War," first came to studios' attentions after The New York Times published an excerpt of the book, which enticed many to produce the film adaptation due to its strongly interesting content, as it tells the story of a photojournalist that was present in scenarios such as Afganistan, Congo and Gaddafi Libya.
Addario is a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, and she first began gaining notoriety when she went to Afghanistan following 9/11 to go through a series of photographs documenting what it was like to be a woman during the Taliban regime, and years later she was even kidnapped by Gaddafi's army in Libya; it's no wonder that Jennifer Lawrence and Steven Spielberg were interested in her story.
Now, according to The Guardian, it's been confirmed that the adaptation will be produced by Warner Brothers, with the "Schindler's List" Oscar winner attached to direct, as the "Hunger Games" star will be playing the role of Addario, teaming up Jennifer Lawrence and Steven Spielberg for the first time.
For now, no dates have been announced to start filming the Jennifer Lawrence and Steven Spielberg film.
