CBS's Supergirl in-development TV series have already found its "leading lady" named Melissa Benoist. According to Screen Rant, the next "regular cast" member, Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) will be joining the show as Cat Grant. Grant will have Kara Danvers as her personal assistant, with CatCo chief executive and founder an ultimate advance from her "comic book origins".
Flockhart may be known with the starring role of "fresh-faced lawyer" in Ally McBeal on Fox. But apparently, it is Flockhart's time spent during Brothers and Sisters on ABC that pushed her on this new role. Greg Berlanti, Supergirl Executive Producer, have also produced the drama focused on family before moving to "superhero-oriented TV" such as The Flash, Arrow and now as Superman's cousin.
It is highly anticipated how Flockhart will portray the character with The Devil Wears Prada and diva. Meanwhile, for the comic series fans, Cat's physical assets as well as her flaky personality have classically defined her. In the recent incarnation, such elements were softened, rather than portraying Grant as sophisticated heavy-hitter on the pop culture and online fashion current trends.
Calista Flockhart appears to be ready for diving back in the telly work as she snags this starring role at Supergirl. The series will again be expected on DC Comics world while focusing on Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin who luckily escaped from Krypton and landed on Earth. At first, she is unwilling to accept the power and begins to stand on her own feet while accepting her "heroic destiny".
Based on Empire Online's report, Flockhart signed for the role as Cat Grant, the popular character in the comic book who is anticipated to be a "media magnate" who began her profession as a correspondent while employing Kara to her PA, with a bit clue of her "minion's powers". CBS already ordered first series of Supergirl and is expected to be seen this autumn.
