Ever since its release, "American Sniper" has been dubbed the best film director Clint Eastwood has made in years, and it's been also called out by more left wing figures for its pro-war speech; now, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's "American Sniper" comments have come to light, and she doesn't very much agree with those who dislike the movie.
As would be expected of Sarah Palin, "American Sniper" was one of her favorite films in recent times, as it tells the story of the deadliest sniper in the United States military history, with 160 confirmed kills and 255 probable ones, before being killed himself in 2013, at age 38.
According to The New York Daily News, Sarah Palin's "American Sniper" rage came early this week, only a few days after Hollywood heavy weights Michael Moore (the director of documentary films "Bowling for Columbine" and "Sicko") and Seth Rogen criticized the movie for glorifying war and making snipers look like heroes; Moore stated that they were murderers, while Rogen equated "American Sniper" to the movie inside a movie in "Inglourious Basters," basically equating it to Nazi propaganda.
"Hollywood leftists: While caressing shiny plastic trophies you exchange among one another while spitting on the graves of freedom fighters who allow you to do what you do, just realize the rest of America knows you're not fit to shine Chris Kyle's combat boots," were Sarah Palin's "American Sniper" comments last Monday as she posted on her Facebook page, according to CNN, referring particularly to Michael Moore, who had called snipers "cowards" for shooting people in the back.
According to People Magazine, however, there's more to Palin's respect for sniper Chris Kyle than just mere patriotism: it seems like the two of them met back in 2011, when the former Navy SEAL was in the security team in an event that featured Palin's appearance.
The two of them bonded and, two years later, the Palin family attended his funeral. Sarah Palin's "American Sniper" comments have also gone on to state that she wishes the best for Kyle's widow, Taya.
