Following the major success of Carly Rae Jepsen's songs like "Call Me Maybe," the woman who became a YouTube sensation and even an Internet meme is returning to the music scene after about two years of silence - are we seeing the next Justin Bieber?
Back in 2012, radio stations and just about everywhere was playing Carly Rae Jepsen's songs like "Call Me Maybe" all day long, as well as making the official video a huge hit worldwide, with more than 630 million views in video sites YouTube and Vevo, one of the most watched videos in the entirety of the websites.
Now, according to Time Magazine, the world will be getting more Carly Rae Jepsen songs soon, as the singer is preparing to show the world her new material, which reportedly has absolutely nothing to do with the song that made her a worldwide sensation and the subject of all kinds of Internet jokes and parodies.
Billboard reports that the news about upcoming Carly Rae Jepsen songs first came out as she posted a new picture on her Instagram page, which shows her in different scenes of a recording studio, where she was joined by Ariel Rechshaid and Dev Hynes, the two people responsible for "Everything is Embarrassing," the breakout hit of Sky Ferreira, as well as other big indie songs of the last few years.
It's obvious that with this kind of profile, it should be impossible to really compare the very pop sound of "Call Me Maybe" with something that's targeted more to the indie and hipster crowd, who are much more into the more experimental sounds with deeper lyrics than "here's my number/so call me maybe."
As Pop Dust reports, Ariel Rechshaid and Dev Hynes have worked in the past with indie idols Charli XCX, Haim and Vampire Weekend, so it might be time to prepare for the fact that the new Carly Rae Jepsen songs will not be remotely similar from what the world has seen of her so far.
