For fans of the iconic brand of little plastic bricks that seems to be everywhere these days, "The Lego Movie 2" comes as the best news 2015 has offered yet: and a new report shows that there's at least three more movies being planned out by Lego and Warner Bros.!
Following the success of the first movie - which is already racking up nominations as possibly the best picture of the year -, it's no surprise that the studio and the toy company are seeking to make "The Lego Movie 2" a reality, but it seems the two companies have a lot more than one movie in the planning stages.
According to The Mirror, the directors of the first film, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, have recently stated that "The Lego Movie 2" is definitely in the planning stages, and that the film will be set four years after the ending of the 2014 movie.
"Well I don't want to give you spoilers but we were really interested in what happens to that boy who's in the meta story in the first movie when he's four years older," Miller told Empire Magazine about what could "The Lego Movie 2" be about. "And it's nice to have the characters start in a different place from the first movie. Emmet, for example, was in an existential crisis of having seen another dimension and was questioning the whole point of his existence."
However, according to Slash Film, that's only one of the projects the two companies are cooking right now: while the sequel to the 2014 film, "The Lego Movie 2," is set to be released in 2018, there are two more related films set to see theaters a bit earlier: in February 10, 2017, the world will get to see "Lego Batman" in the big screen, while "Ninjago" will be hitting theaters on October 14, 2016.
