7-Year-Old Girl Braves Tough Terrain After A Plane Crash Kills Her Entire Family

A 7 year old girl traversed three quarters of a mile amidst an unforgiving terrain right after the plane she was on crashed killing her father, mother, sister and cousin.

The little girl made headlines of major news networks after overcoming tremendous odds on her journey towards survival. The child was aboard, together with family, the Piper PA-34 flying from Key West, Florida to their home state in Illinois unfortunately their plane crashed somewhere in western Kentucky.

The first to help the little girl was Larry Wilkins of Lyon County, who describe the girl as wearing a light top and shorts. According to Wilkins the little girl knocked on his door after enduring what he described as the "toughest land you'll ever see in your life" all in barefoot and with light to help her along the way.

On an interview from Yahoo News Wilkins said "That's one tough little girl, grave little girl". When asked to describe the terrain the girl had to go through he said "I don't even walk through it in the daylight." After he found the girl outside of his home, Wilkins invited her inside and gave her as much comfort as he can offer and then dialed 911. 10 minutes later the Kentucky State Police arrived at his home medical responders quickly checked the girl for injuries. Despite the crash the girl was only reported to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently being taken care of in the nearest hospital.

Additional reports indicated that the plane was able to send a distress call to the Memphis control center saying that the plane is experiencing engine problems. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration have already sent in teams of investigators to find out the cause of the incident.

On Saturday morning the Kentucky Police was able to identify the four victims: the father Marty Gutzler, 49; mother Kimberly Gutzler, 45, daughter Piper Gutzler, 9; and Piper's cousin Sierra Wilder, 14. The surviving child's name was withheld upon request of the extended family.
