Twitter Android App Suffers Huge Mishap, Kicks Users Out Of Twitter Accounts

As the year closes by without too many issues from one of the most popular social networks in the world, just a couple of days before wrapping up 2014, the Twitter Android app goes crazy, kicking its users out of their own accounts and not letting them sign back in.

While there haven't been too many issues with the social network in the last few months - unlike what used to happen when the social network was just starting out, as any issue would entail the appearance of the infamous "fail whale" - now, the Twitter Android app has been having some issues, apparently due to hacking.

After the famous Ellen DeGeneres Academy Awards selfie earlier this year, there had been no reports of major issues with the platform - until the Twitter Android app began acting up last Sunday night.

According to Geek Wire, the issue with the Twitter Android app seemed to be as follows: users would received a notification saying that they had been booted out of their accounts; afterwards, any attempt to log back in was unsuccessful, and it was even impossible to change the password from the phone.

That was, however, only the issue with the Android app; according to Zdnet.com, there were also some problems with popular dashboard app Tweetdeck, as it started showing the dates of tweets all wrong, as if in fact 2015 had already passed for the most part and the world was heading straight into 2016.

Users entering the social network from other mediums - such as the web app or Tweetbot for Mac - didn't meet with any issues and were able to enjoy the service without any problems.

While it is still unclear what caused the Twitter Android app issue - which was ultimately resolves after about five hours -, AOL News has reported that hacking may have been involved, as user @KingEbola has taken responsibility for the failings; however, this is still unconfirmed.
