Bob Evans Meatloaf ‘Killed’ Couple, According To Children: Lawsuit Filed

Bob Evans Meatloaf Couple - Two children from a deceased couple claim that their parents died after being poisoned from the consumption of a meatloaf at a Bob Evans restaurant.

In Oct. 2012, Virginia and Harold Starcher shared a "tainted" meal, which included meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli and a roll, according to CNN.

The meal was at a Bob Evans restaurant. Nine hours after having said meal, Virginia became "violently ill" and shortly after that, Harold did as well. Still, he was able to call 911 so an ambulance took them both to the hospital.

At Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, the couple was told by the emergency staff that what they suffered from was "food poisoning." The next day, Harold "suffered a stroke after becoming violently ill from consuming the tainted meal from Bob Evans," the couple's children alleged.

They were both taken into a rehabilitation facility from where they wouldn't return. Two months later, Virginia died and shortly after, Harold did as well.

It was from this situation that Mark and Ann Starcher, the children from the couple, decided to file a lawsuit against Bob Evans company for "killing" their parents with the "poisoned" meatloaf.

The children ask $250,000 for medical expenses from the food chain and also, an unspecified amount for the "pain, suffering, emotional distress, mental anguish, and the loss of ability to enjoy life" caused by their parents' death, Consumerist noted.

Bob Evans commented on the pending litigation and explained their side of the story.

"Bob Evans is committed to serving the safest, highest-quality foods for our guests - that is our responsibility and our priority."

"The company did a thorough review of the alleged claims in this matter, and quite simply, there is no basis to the allegations contained in the complaint and the suit is entirely without merit," said Scott Taggart, a spokesman for Bob Evans.

Early next year, the case of the Bob Evans meatloaf that "killed" the couple, will go to federal court.
