North Korea Jong-Un - North Korea's leader is known for maintaining a strong ruling, tinted by almost bizarre facts among it. Still, it's now a fact apparently, that people who carry his same name won't be able to do so anymore.
This is not something completely new and unexpected. It seems that the idea to maintain the name of Kim Jong-un as a unique one comes from the past rulers of North Korea and the present leader's family.
In Kim Jong-il and Kim Il-sung's rule, the father and grandfather of Kim Jong-un, there was a similar decree. Names like "Kim Tae-yang" were banned, due to the fact that "Tae-yang" means the sun and it's the symbol of North Korea's founder, Kim Il-sung, ABC News noted.
Also, names that contained the "Jong" part in them were banned as well. And Kim Jong-un had this idea roaming around since 2011, seemingly.
KBS, the South Korean national broadcaster, reported that they had an internal North Korean government document, in which officials of the Workers' Party and other internal security agencies were instructed to maintain the decree against Jong-un's, NY Times reported.
"It's true that in North Korea, they now allow only one Jong-un," said South Korean government official.
This fact states that literally the only person with the name Kim Jong-un is meant to be the leader. Following this decree, not only newborns are meant to be controlled not to carry the same name.
In addition, people who already have said name are meant to change it as well in order to make the unique Kim Jong-un an actual fact, according to NBC News.
There isn't a clear number about how many people exactly will have to change their names, but Kim and Jong-un are common names for males and females in South Korea. This means that in North Korea, there could be a lot too.
