Man Pushed in Front Of Subway Train, Witnesses Say, Dies – Search For Suspect Continues

A man was pushed in front of a subway train in Bronx on Sunday. Nobody understood what happened until it was too late. Witnesses stated he died instantly.

The situation took place while the man in question, Wai Kuen Kwok, was about to take the D train with wife when he got pushed into the tracks, ABC 7 noted.

All the witnesses were able to react after the situation, but they didn't see it coming at all.

"I see something flying across the tracks. I knew that someone was pushed, just by the way that the person fell onto the tracks," said James Muriel, the subway motorman.

The man's body then was lying under the third car of the train. Once Muriel went to see exactly what happened, Kwok's wife came crying to him and begged for help.

Police later on said that the responsible for the "shoving" in front of the subway train was smoking a cigarette casually outside a convenience store. He was caught on surveillance camera.

Apparently, after the unfortunate situation, the wife and other witnesses went after the suspect and that's how the authorities found out that he went a few blocks to 170th and Jesup Avenue. After that, they believe he took the BX35 bus.

The Police did show the surveillance video afterwards to locate the suspect and described him as a balding man, dressed in a leather jacket, dark pants and sneakers.

The New York Times reported that the man was pushed in front of the D subway train just before 8:45 a.m. and the Police confirmed that nothing was stolen. Also, no fight was reported by the witnesses.

Instead, they are all sure that the case was a "shoving" into train tracks. The man, Kwok, was heading to Chinatown with his wife to have breakfast there. It was an activity they did often.

But before even getting into the subway, the man was pushed in front of the subway train.

"Push, push!" were the words screamed by his wife, asking the witnesses to help. And the search for the responsible of the act continues.

In recent years, three similar incidents happened. One of them was in 2013, when a man was pushed and killed after he was unable to return to the platform in time, ABC News reported.
