The most horrifying news in a while has come to light: a man was found eating a woman's face inside his hotel room in the United Kingdom, but then the cannibal was killed by cops.
It's been a gruesome few months when it comes to insane news. First, there was the man who beheaded a former coworker in Oklahoma; later, the case of the Australian chef who murdered, chopped to pieces and cooked his girlfriend ... and, now, the South Wales story of the cannibal killed by cops.
As the United Kingdom news outlet The Mirror reports, the cannibal killed by cops, Matthew Williams, was found eating the eyeball of Cerys Yemm and half her face in his hotel room in South Wales earlier this week, last Thursday.
The horrifying affair happened after members of the security staff of Sirhowy Arms Hotel, along with police, had knocked on the room's door and Williams refused to allow them in. They then proceeded to knock the door down to find Williams chewing on the face of his victim, which led to the cannibal being killed by cops.
Williams was formally arrested, but the Taser that had knocked him out cold also injured him enough to kill him. His victim also died, due to the injuries he had caused, which included him chewing on her eyeball.
Besides the horribleness of the case in itself, it has been a shock due to the location: the case of the cannibal killed by cops happened in a small South Wales village called Argoed, not far away from Blackwood.
The deputy mayor Leon Gardiner, an older man of 81 years of age, has said that the news hit the town by storm, and that in all his years living in the community he had never seen or heard anything nearly as horrifying as this news, as Argoed is a small and calm village.
The Sirhowy Arms Hotel, where the events took place, also operates as a bail hostel. Williams was staying there after having been released two weeks earlier from prison, where he served five years over the assault of his ex girlfriend.
According to the IB Times, the cannibal killed by cops was 34 years old and had been released from prison only two weeks before. First reports say that he had picked up his victim, 22-year-old Yemm, at a bar nearby and had invited her to his hotel room, where he then began to chew on the poor woman's face. In a later police report, it was disclosed that the man was high on cocaine at the time of the attack.
The cannibal killed by cops had a history of violence, as he'd been imprisoned before for attacking his then-girlfriend, Emma Thomas. According to The Mirror, she recently told the media that the police responsible for the death of his ex-boyfriend had a lot to answer to, since his horrific actions had apparently happened due to the fact that he was being unmonitored by any authorities.
There is a new investigation underway, prepared by the probation services in the United Kingdom because, even though Williams had just been released from being imprisoned for a violent crime, there seemed to be no supervision by authorities at the time of the incident.
The horror of the cannibal killed by cops didn't stop after seeing that Williams was dead. It seems that the officers who were present when it was discovered that Williams was chewing on the face of this woman are now understandably suffering from Posttraumatic stress disorder and are receiving psychological counseling to alleviate their trauma.
