Previously on TVD Season 6, while Elena decided to go with Stefan so she could learn a thing or two on how to forget the past and move on, we saw the true nature of Kai being revealed. Kai is apparently a witch and a serial killer, who had murdered many of his "siblings" in the Gemini coven. Hence, he was banished to the "Other Side" as punishment. When Bonnie and Damon met this estranged character, they all agreed to help each other escape the time warp they are stuck in. Kai threatened the two that the only way they can go back is for them to take him back with them. Catch the brand new episode this Thursday night. A sneak peek to the upcoming episode hints that Damon is all excited to return to the present Mystic Falls and spend a day with his girlfriend Elena. Unbeknownst to him however Elena's memories of him have already been erased. Another promo also teases that Damon and Bonnie's return wouldn't go smoothly. In fact, it's going to get bloody when they discover something disturbing. Meanwhile, Elena may be interested of having a new beau so she takes him to a corn maze. Elena's advice of socializing gets into Alaric and the latter will try to get out and mingle with other people. As for Stefan, he is going to come clean to Caroline while Tyler gets into the middle of a confusing situation filled with "werewolf curse-heavy temptations."
The official synopsis of Vampire Diaries season 6 episode 5 reads: "With Homecoming around the corner, Elena invites Liam to attend a party at the corn maze with her. Instead of attending the homecoming festivities, Caroline is preoccupied after Stefan shows up unexpectedly and needs her help cleaning up a mess created by Enzo. Heeding Elena's advice to be more social, Alaric reluctantly attends the party, but a devastating accident quickly leaves him and Jo rushing to save lives. Elsewhere, Tyler finds himself in a dangerous position when his werewolf curse is put to the test, and an emotionally embattled Stefan comes clean to Caroline about his intent to move on from Mystic Falls. Lastly, Damon and Bonnie make an important discovery that affects their quest to get back home."
