North Korean Officials Killed: ‘Watching South Korean Soap Operas’ Among The Execution Reasons

North Korean Officials Executed - About 10 North Korean Officials were killed for watching soap operas, bribery or womanizing.

After these last executions, which were performed by a firing squad, the quantity of executions in Kim Jong-un's rule this year has reached up to 50, all of senior members of the party.

Apparently, many of the executed officials were related in some way to Jang Song-thaek, Jong-un's uncle. This same man was arrested in 2013 and later on killed due to allegedly committing crimes against the state.

The reason behind these entire executions, according to the report, is that Jong-un is eliminating the opposition to his rule and founding unbreakable bases for North Korea to stand alone.

Still, it's also true that ordering to execute 10 senior members and one of the reasons being "watching soap operas" is a little bit too unorthodox.

These executions would be the third major purge performed by the dictator since he assumed the power in 2011, the Daily Mail noted.

Also, it has been reported that yesterday, Jung-Un had a meeting with a UN human rights investigator, which makes the entire deal ironic, for lack of a better word.

"Pirated versions of South Korean and Chinese television programs are widely available in North Korea and are frequently traded in the black market," The Telegraph noted.

The pirate versions would explain how the North Korean officials got a hold of the soap operas. Yet, now a day, there is internet and connections that bring all the international information together.

It was stated more than once that Jong-un's intention is for North Korea to have an "inside" mind, only knowing matter in North Korea about North Korea; basically, being closed off from the world.

But with a globalized world like the one we live in, that task is almost impossible. This fact brings thoughts about further executions of North Korean officials and other people under this rule.
