Julianne Moore revealed that she joined "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" because her kids are obsessed with it.
The "Hunger Games" actress told that the movie and the book have deep relevance to her two children. She also counts the plot's focus on controlling your own destiny.
In More magazine November issue's cover story, Moore said, "For a child moving into adolescence, the big question is, 'Do I have free will? Can I determine my own future?"
The 53 year old mom to son Caleb, 16 and daughter Liv, 12 said her role as the tough President Alma Coin in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and 2" was "fairly meaningful" for her kids. "Most of the films I make are not for kids," she says. "My son was in line for the midnight show when The Hunger Games first came out." She also added that both of her children are big fans of the books, too.
In an interview with People in June, Moore said that there may have been moments that her kids thinks she was cool and "that's pretty good!" These moments include not only their mom's role in "The Hunger Games" franchise but also co-starring with Robert Pattinson in the drama "Maps to the Stars".
"She (Liv) can't understand that I get to meet all these people she finds so interesting," Moore said. "She's like, 'What is it Mom with you and Chloë Moretz, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence?' She's baffled by it. She doesn't understand why it's happening because I'm just Mom to her."
Moore, "The Hunger Games" star, had put on many hats being a four-time Oscar nominee, an author of a best-selling children's book, a humanitarian and lastly, being a mother of two children. She recently gets an Oscar award buzz for her role as a mother experiencing the onset of Alzheimer's disease in her recent movie, "Still Alice".
