Arcade Fire ‘Reflektor’: A Band That ‘Plays Hard’ No Matter What

Arcade Fire - The band has just finished the "Reflektor" Tour and before they wrapped it all up, they made an interview with CBS and told their history, among other things.

Arcade Fire's "Reflektor" album is the fourth one of the band and they released it in 2013. Before that, they started off with "Funeral" in 2004, "Neon Bible" in 2006, "The Suburbs" in 2010 and now, they have been touring with "Reflektor," as mentioned.

One of the things that stands out about Arcade Fire is that it's a pretty crowded band. They are originally 6 of them that are always on tour, and for example, in "Reflektor," they were 12 people in total as they added two additional percussionists and two frequent collaborators.

Still, they take advantage of being so many by creating a unique sound and interesting rhythms that are constantly changing and evolving to become better. In the interview, they made one lovely reference to the quantity they always are.

"We play really hard. I mean, a lot of people do that, but we- it's pretty full-on," Win Butler shared and then mentioned that from the very beginning in 2004, when they were unknown and they almost had no fans, they still gave their best.

They joked about the fact that they were more on stage than the people watching them off-stage in the crowd.

Another detail that makes this band stand out is also how cinematic they are. Their videos tend to make up stories that evolve and stand on their own, rather than follow the music completely.

For instance, they tend to make collaborations with Spike Jonze. They made the soundtrack for "Where the Wild Things Are" in 2008 and since then, they pretty much composed the music for everything else that the Director has done.

He even directed the music video of "The Suburbs" and after that, made a short film based on the album by Arcade Fire, called "Scenes From The Suburbs," which was about a group of teenagers surviving a sort of war that has come to the suburbs, where they live.

As a matter of fact, apart from the short film, the album itself of "The Suburbs" called a lot the attention as it's a story itself. Each song tells a bit about the same story, either in the past or in the present.

Out of the six members, Arcade Fire's main figures are Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, who are husband and wife and they write most of the lyrics for the band. Most of the band is originally from Montreal.

David Bowie is a fan of theirs and has played on stage as a guest several times with Arcade Fire, and even confirmed his collaboration with "Reflektor" single.

Arcade Fire definitely has one bright future ahead, and "Reflektor" might just be one clear sign of that.
