The Snappening - I have to admit that finding photos being leaked is getting more and more common. It's almost not news anymore as it continues happening over and over again in different platforms. This time, the victim was Snapchat.
There is a big difference with the other leaks, though. The Snapchat leak started apparently on Wednesday night, according to Forbes. The wonderful thing about these folks is that they found a blogger, Kenny Withers, who did an entire chronicle of 'The Snappening'. He followed it through from the beginning on Wednesday 8th at night until today.
What was recollected by Kenny Withers, in essence, was that 'The Snappening' didn't happen like 'The Fappening,' where the photos were leaked from 4chan. In this case, things worked a little bit differently.
Apparently, there was an application used that is not related to Snapchat, a third-party one to save the snaps and then leak them into a database, sharing it in conclusion with the world.
Kenny Withers doesn't believe this is a hoax, and even goes as far as stating it, "I don't think this is a hoax. A lot of people hope it's a hoax, but I don't think it is."
Why a hoax? The main reason is that most people seriously hope their pictures are not floating around and being shared with the entire world. But it seems that it's a possibility that it is.
The big difference then is that the pictures that were leaked from Snapchat were not from celebrities, like it happened with 'The Fappening,' but this time the Snappening has pictures of everyone using the application.
Still, it's not a leaking inside Snapchat like it happened with 'The Fappening' but done with a third-party application, so Snapchat doesn't have the fault. Or so it seems, so far.
The pictures leaked from 'The Snappening' are supposedly nude pictures and 'child pornography,' as Kenny Withers mentioned.
