‘Bucket List’ Baby Shane Met Philadelphia Phillies, Had Been to Empire State Building Before He Bid Goodbye

Shane Michael Haley, also known as "Bucket List" baby has died on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6:15 a.m., almost four hours after he was born.

"After meeting his entire family and being baptized into the Catholic faith, Baby Shane died peacefully in his Mother's arms," the couple posted on their Facebook page.

Jenna and Dan Haley created 'Shane's Bucket List' right after their unborn baby was identified with neural condition known as 'anencephaly,' causing babies to be born without parts of the scalp, skull and brain. It is a compound neural defect that kills majority of infants soon after their birth.

"Most families wait until their baby is born to start making memories and traveling to places with them," Dan stated. "We understood what it was and knew that our time with our son could be very limited, so we wanted to make the most of the time that we had with him."

Jenna's pregnancy went well until the couple found out that Shane had anencephaly on the third month. From the moment they learned their baby's condition, the couple has touched over 800, 000 people on their Facebook page as they share their updates, stories on 'Shane's Bucket List.'

The list includes places and activities the couple loved and wishes to share with their son. Their Facebook fans had followed their journey from New York Times Square, to games, beaches, sports, concerts and classic Philadelphia landmarks such as Geno's Steaks. The couple also took Shane to meet 'Philadelphia Phillies' and he had been at the top of the 'Empire State Building.'

Haley's Facebook page garnered 867, 181 followers. The recent post states, "The support and prayers we have received from all of you have been amazing and we want to thank each of you with all our hearts. Shane spent his entire life in the arms of people that loved him unconditionally and I don't think you could ask for a more beautiful life than that."

Baby Shane has died, but the memories he made for his parents continue to live on.
