After the Paris attacks, the Muslims have been the center of public scrutiny. The stigma in the society against them was aggravated right after these unfortunate incidents.
There is a need to put emphasis on stopping or correcting this mindset.
It all starts with spreading awareness. Not all Muslims are bad. Not all Muslims should be blamed. This is why Mark Zuckerberg's sentiments about Muslims made a striking impact in the entire Facebook community.
"If you're a Muslim in this community, as the leader of Facebook I want you to know that you are always welcome here and that we will fight to protect your rights and create a peaceful and safe environment for you."
He came to uphold the Muslims against criticisms following the San Bernardino shootout and statements made by Donald Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate.
Trump proposed a complete ban on Muslims from entering the United States. He explained in another report from Time how he plans to facilitate the process of stopping Muslims from going into the country.
It is, at the very least, comforting to know that there is still a single human being out there who cares for the Muslims. Based on his statements, the Facebook CEO promises a safe environment and protection of human rights for the Muslim community.
"As a Jew, my parents taught me that we must stand up against attacks on all communities. Even if an attack isn't against you today, in time attacks on freedom for anyone will hurt everyone," Zuckerberg wrote.
It will be a long while before society follows suit. Mark Zuckerburg's Facebook post is just one out of thousands of people crying out to stop discrimination against the Muslim community.
There are quite a few people left in this world who still trust humanity. It will be great to break the chain and start believing in the goodness of everyone.
