$1.5 Million For Woman Punched By Cop Caught On Tape [VIDEO]

Woman Punched By Cop Caught On Tape - In the beginning of July, a woman was walking through LA's freeway and got punched by a Cop who stopped her for interrupting traffic. A video was filmed by a motorist during the event and on Sept. 24th she got to do an agreement in which she received $1.5 million dollars.

How is it that this happened? The woman was passing through traffic, and then as it can be seen in the video, the Police Officer approaches her, turns her, pushes her to the ground, straddles her and punches her repeatedly for several seconds.

The incident took place in 10 Freeway near La Brea Avenue and a deal was settled by CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow who said, "When this incident occurred, I promised that I would look into it and vowed a swift resolution. Today, we have worked constructively to reach a settlement agreement that is satisfactory to all parties involved," USA Today noted.

The agreement ended up in $1.5 million dollars for the woman punched by the cop, and the Police Officer in question, Daniel Andrew, has resigned to his job.

He had entered CHP in 2012 and after the incident had been on a paid administrative leave.

The woman who got punched is called Marlene Pinnock and is 51 years old.

Caree Harper, her attorney had two goals. One was to have a compensation that "would accommodate Marlene's unique situation in life" and another one was "that the officer would not be an officer anymore," as USA Today posted.

Marlene Pinnock, the woman punched, has a bipolar disorder and had been without any medication two months before the incident, according to the USA Today report.

She also told Associated Press, "I felt like he was trying to kill me, beat me to death."

It must have been a traumatic situation for the woman to be punched by the cop, but hopefully the compensation will at least provide her with some financial security.
